We started with one goal: provide simple technical solutions to save customer time.

But something that is simple doesn't necessarily mean it is easy.

JustPlainSimple Technologies Inc. was founded by Scott Brown in 2007. It is a consulting firm that focuses on software development, automation of inefficient processes, building fault-tolerant Cloud infrastructure, and ensuring the protection of information and digital assets. The primary focus of the company is on information security tasks, but the ability to jump into any company and work with executive, infrastructure and engineering teams without intermediaries — to speak their language — means that work is completed faster and with less confusion. Ensuring the security of systems often means writing software and building infrastructure just as much as it means writing policies, performing assessments, or teaching security awareness. As such, this holistic approach to information security provides customers with a wide breadth of skills in a single consulting engagement.

We believe that the path to a positive security posture begins and ends with people. Put too many controls in place and the people will just find ways around them to do their work. Instead, we work with people to get their job done while, at the same time, expose them to how enforcing unobtrusive controls protect them from harm which ensures security is kept for the long-term.

The primary way we work is to follow the data; that is, by watching how data flows from the customer’s side (be it a browser, mobile app, or otherwise) through a company’s systems and, ultimately, into some form of output (monitoring, Customer Support, or even the customer’s own systems). Each point where data is touched by a human or a machine is a potential threat to its confidentiality, integrity, and availability. As a result, we dig deep into each of these areas and determine the set of threats and risks present, then work to manage those risks to minimize the potential harm to the company.

With 22 years in the tech industry, Scott has held positions from customer support to software developer, and all the way to Head of Security. With a focus on customer value and security, he shows people that being safe doesn't mean having to give up on the nice things in life.

Straddling both the education industry and the information management industry, Jenny has deep knowledge into how people of all ages learn and process knowledge. She is a strong advocate for privacy rights because it means putting control of our personal data back into the hands of the person that owns it.

Creating complex solutions or situations only offers one goal: stress. We want to ease everyone's stress by ensuring that our solutions are simple to understand and to maintain. However, simple does not mean easy and we pride ourselves on making that distinction in every choice we make.

We understand that money is important, but it doesn't need to run our lives. Being economical means making smart choices when it comes to pricing services, spending money, and investing for the future. We practice this internally at JustPlainSimple but we also ensure that our solutions to customers are economical as well.

We are located in the beautiful (albeit, rainy) city of Vancouver, Canada. We work remotely to provide services to anyone, anywhere in the world.
